Falken Wildpeak AT3W Review: Test Drive and Findings

I believe in trying every tire that steals my attention on the road. So, I have tried Falken Wildpeak AT3W myself, and it did impress. It pushed my standards high up that I fear I will be biased to other tires in the same category. I tested the tires with a friend’ s BMW SUV, and this is what I found out.

DRY

The dealer had endorsed this tire for the off-road, and I wasn’t keen on trying it there though I finally did. I started on the highways, and the traction was incredibly impressive. The tires biting of the road could be felt in the steering.


Pressing the throttle a little bit harder and I could still control the vehicle with ease. After driving for an hour on the highway, I took a road to the woods and Falken Wildpeak AT3W did not disappoint. It maintained its traction often offering great cornering experience.

WET

The stability provided by the tire in wet grounds is admirable. Passing through pools of water and muddy surfaces required no additional skill other than a necessary turn and a foot on the throttle. I also noticed that the braking was shorter compared to other tires in the same category.


The resistance often felt when going against running water was insignificant to notice even on heavy rains. Negotiating corners in wet roads are safe with Falken Wildpeak AT3W because of the excellent traction it offers.

SNOW

I was eager to test the tires on snow. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to. My friend recalled the vehicle for an impromptu road trip with his clients halting my plans. However, from his account and that of the dealer, Falken Wildpeak AT3W is a beast on snow. 


Its 3D Canyon Siping technology and aggressive rugged tread engineering make it perform better in snow surfaces. The deep grooves ensure that snowflakes are channeled away. 

COMFORT

Generally, BMW models are designed for luxury hence come with pleasure. But it takes a great tire to have an extreme comfort, and Falken Wildpeak AT3W rose to the occasion. 


When I was testing the tires on the dry roads, my spouse was in tow. 

She dozed off on the highway and continued to sleep even when I branched to the rough trails in the woods. This is a testament of the comfort guaranteed by Falken Wildpeak AT3W.


NOISE

Noise is almost unheard off with these tires. It is common to have road noise tires with many tires out there. Many drivers do tolerate road noise, but when it becomes increasingly loud, it becomes a bother. 


Falken Wildpeak AT3W seem to be the antidote for road noise. Driving both on the pavements and off-road, I did not hear any noise. On the rugged terrains, I kept the volume of my music low, and I could still enjoy it.

TREAD WEAR

The tires I was testing with the BMW SUV were still new. They had done 700 miles only. The absence of cuts and traces of wear after 700 miles is a testimony of a refined tire that lasts long.


 The dealer told me you need thousands of miles to trigger wear symptoms.

Based on the experiences and the above review, I would be quick to say yes for this tire, especially if you have an adventurers personality.
